Encompassing many facets of pop, rock and jazz, this book assesses 1000 albums and is divided into listings of between ten and 250 for various genres and areas of interest, together with a single “top 1000” list, all in order of appraisal by the editor of “The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music” and 82 contributors from around the world. They have taken account of critical and personal opinions of the albums when they were first reviewed, together with reappraisal throughout their lifetime, and their commercial success. Each album is listed with an illustration of its cover, a full track-listing, UK and US chart-listing if applicable, and a 100-word review.
