After a serial killer murdered the parents of Ashley Spencer and left Casey Van Meter in a coma, Ashley wonders why her quiet, loving family was targeted by a madman and decides to go into hiding in Europe. Returning years later to bear witness when the suspect is finally apprehended and tried, her pain also resurfaces in a true crime novel written by Miles Van Meter, Casey’s twin brother. Ashley’s sense of closure is clouded by her doubts of her own safety and that the case will be satisfyingly resolved.
