My golden road from Samarkand

In this memoir, Jascha knows that his childhood days have come to an end when he finds his violin lesson cancelled due to gunfire. Samarkand is no longer a safe place for the bourgeoisie and Jascha and his family set off on camel across the desert in disguise. Seeking refuge where it can, the caravan is plagued with threats from treacherous guides to murderous bandits on its way to Istanbul.
