Stillest Day, The

In the heady days of fin de siecle England, Bethesda Barnet, an artist and teacher in a small school, finds her solitary, ordered life transformed by the arrival of the new schoolmaster. Fatally misled by the force of her attraction for him, she nurtures her desire, capturing the only part of Matthew Pearsonshe can – his image, which she secretly paints onto mirrors.
