The Chrysalids

The volumes in the Connections series are intended to satisfy teacher requests for drama by the best authors. Revised National Curriculum requirements in 2001 for students to read recent and contemporary drama are catered for in these scripts, specifically written for 11-16 year olds. Having been performed as part of a nationwide youth theatre scheme, Connections are suited for school-based productions. Connections are ideal for class reading and studio performance, lasting about one hour each, and with casts of seven to 20 or more. Activities and support material provided on a dedicated website are intended to encourage pupils to engage with and think beyond the text. In this script David Harrower has produced a stage version of John Wyndham’s classic novel about unusually gifted children escaping a society dedicated to conformity. It is suitable for a wide age range (11-16 plus) and a cast of 18 plus extras.
