‘Tragedy is the difference between what is and what could have been. For Jospeh Ejercito “Erap” Estrad, 13th President of the Philippines, tragedy struck on January 20, 2001 when he was ousted from Malacanang by Filipinos outraged by his alleged abuse of power, lavish life style, and corruption committed in just two and a half years in office. He had been given a chance to lead and he failed because of moral weakness, flawed judgement and hubris. His legacy now is that of being the first Asian President to be impeached. He wanted so much to bring honor to the Ejercito name but in the end he only brought shame.’
