A weekend hacker, Tom has just been drafted to fill out a foursome at the famous Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey. It’s an incredible chance to play one of the world’s great courses while scoring points with his boss. But when Tom single-handedly costs them Nassau, and visions of unemployment dance in his head, help arrives in the form of a mysterious gentleman named Harry Brady.
With Harry as his guide, Tom begins to play the most beautiful, demanding course in the universe. Along the way, his virtue is tested by the capricious immortals who control every aspect of the game. He fights a battle royal with Fergus, the goat-riding God of Greenskeepers; matches wits with Divot, the God of Bad Lies; and falls in love with the beautiful Glenda, Goddess of Golf, who teaches him that there’s much to be gained by straying from the safety of the fairways. But only Harry knows how much is riding on Tom’s game…
