The Song of Solomon

Scalo has commissioned the artist François Berthoud (*1961, Switzerland) to create an artist’s book inspired by one of the most sensual, enchanting, and poetic texts of all literature, the Old Testament poem the “Song of Solomon.”In Berthoud’s free interpretation of the text as poem, his illustrations do not make historical reference, but rather compose a pure visual experience that does not attempt to explain the text, instead maintaining the poetry’s enigmatic beauty.
