Classic story that begins the tripod trilogy written in 1967. Will Parker lives in an enslaved world. Long ago, the Tripods huge three-legged machines came to Earth and took control. People had no longer understood automation nor machines and unquestioningly accepted the Tripods rule. Under the Tripods rule each person is required to be “capped” during their childhood. These “Capping” ceremonies stopped the humans from questioning the Tripods decisions and that they were in fact the Tripod’s slaves. The capping of the humans have been successful except for one young man, Will Parker has not been capped and he knows it is time now to escape.
