1928. Being the Jetsun-Kahbum or biographical history of Jetsun-Milarepa, according to the late Lam Kazi Dawa-Samdup’s English rendering. This biography of one of the great religious geniuses of our human race presents to us in a vivid record of the social conditions which prevailed in the Tibet of the 11th and 12th centuries of the Christian Era. At the time when Milarepa was meditating amid the snowy fastnesses of the Tibetan Himalayas, the culture of Islam was flowing in over every part of Hindustan. It is owing to him, as well as to his teacher Marpa, that much of India’s spiritual inheritance, which was then threatened with destruction, has been applied to the Tibetan society and preserved until today. To the student of religion, as to the historian, this work should be of more than ordinary importance.
